“BECOMING A FOSTER PARENT AS A SINGLE WOMAN WAS SCARY AND FELT RISKY. THERE WERE SO MANY UNKNOWNS AND FEARS ABOUT HOW I WOULD MANAGE CARING FOR HURTING CHILDREN ON MY OWN. BUT EVEN THEN, I FELT READY TO STEP OUT IN FAITH AND MOVE FORWARD IN THE PROCESS. AFTER I BEGAN FOSTERING, I WAS MATCHED WITH A LOVE BOX GROUP. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT BUT THE FIRST TIME WE MET I FELT LIKE A HUGE WEIGHT WAS LIFTED. I KNEW I WASN'T ALONE AND THAT THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO WERE ON MY TEAM AND WOULD WALK WITH ME ON THIS JOURNEY. HAVING INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE READY AND WILLING TO LISTEN, OFFERING SUPPORT IN WAYS THAT I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW TO ASK FOR, AND LOVING ON MY KIDDOS WAS WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW I COULD CONTINUE TO WALK THIS PATH AND LOVE THESE CHILDREN.”
